I saw an Anton Casey type incident yesterday.

What a Ferrari is doing in HDB estate makes me wonder but the reved his engine and start horning at aged lady trying to get across the road at zebra crossing.

Is it just me or is there something about these filthy rich type with love for fast cars. Of course , there are many nice responsible humble rich folks who are not ostentatious abt their wealth. But a growing number seem to have gotten rich.without acquiring good values.

Fast showy cars, lack of proper values and respect of others characterise this filthy rich class. The constant pampering under a plutocratic system seems to breed a growing number of such pple. You see such cars parked outside up market KTVs abd pubs and casinos. Values is.missing.

There's nothing we can do about "low class" people who obtained wealth and want to show off. Whether it is watches, jewelry, handbags or cars. Cars receive more attention because they are big and have an engine to rev to attract lookers. People get satisfaction when they receive the attention. For some, the feelings of an elevated status is fulfilling and rewarding enough to justify the ugliness in display, though they may not notice it. For others, they may have been poor and struggling unnoticed all this time, and now is their time to be noticed. For most people, being seen as rich or well-off gives them a feeling of confidence. All of these behaviour are legal (there is no law saying cannot be haolian), as long as no one bullies or pushes around those who are less well-off and not act as if they are above the law, if they overdo it, someone will get back, either directly or indirectly.

All you're doing is bolstering the point I made. Singapore isn't a caring society where the population has mutual respect for each other so you can't expect the rich to display a trait which is not inherent in Singapore society.

There is no need to show values to lower class people.
I do not remember Sinkees doing that to poor people when they are overseas and to the pinoys, ah nehs and ah tiongs when they are on the little red-dot island.

The problem is that alot of poor and even average or upper middle income people/families behave like shit and demand respect. you see their fark up attitude in restaurants, markets, shopping centres, hospitals, craparks, etc. They are not rich but behave like some "big shot". A very rich man once said, respect MUST be earned, not demanded. That's why to be frank alot of rich guys look down on the poor but don't openly say or flaunt it. Those who openly "flaunt" their riches to demand respect are really the middle income or upper middle who are shameless and have no basic clue what it takes to join the really rich people. The super rich that I know eschew social fiunctions and dress simply but avoid public places. to them privacy or anonymity is utmost importance. afterall why waste time showing off to people who are of a lower class than you. sad fact of life.
