GMS, forget about registration officers, focus how to train you polling agents. This applied to all opps polling agents. My friend a civil servant who served as a Counting Assistant in the last GE told me that the PAP's polling agents are very aggressive. They fought for every ballot paper that was in adjudication - as they were being trained - as it seems to be, unlike opps polling agents who are blur blur. Can't blame cos they were not trained. If one unable to identify which ballot paper is justified or spolit, or to their advantage, that's it. This is very important when the vote count is very near for both camps.

According to the Elections Department website, there are changes made by the PM on the appointments of assistant registration officers and a new appointment was made on the revising officer.

Two assistant registration officers have been removed (appointments have been revoked) while three new ones are being appointed. One new revising officer has been appointed.

This is pretty intriguing as it is not common to have such big changes on the Elections Dept HR. Anyone knows what are the roles of these appointment holders?

The Election Dept and the Public Service Commission should be independent departments. If you still see PAP having a hand in it then nothing has changed, the revamp is just but further manpulations, simple as that.

Dont be curious and never be happy about that either. Until those departments and the courts are independent, politics in singgi land will never be a true democratic republic, it will just remain a republic.

If our central election dept is a independent body, the officials are still appointed by Prime Minister / Cabinet / Parliament. Ultimately it's up to those officials to be non-partisan.

I scared the new officers might just easily void the vote for oppositions. I hope alternative parties look at all those spoilt votes in case they all belongs to the alternative parties but disqualified by the counting officers (PAP men now). It is even scary to know the officers in the election department is not independent for fear of PAP and their threats.

Despots are never voted out, they are thrown out.
Look at our case, how many walkovers?

If you are talking about overthrowing Despots, think gain. Not supporting aside, you see people criticising and despising people Like Dr Chee advocating civil disobedience. You expect such people to overthrow a despot. Dont even think about it.

Certain quarters of the Singporeans are self materialistc, they mind their own business so long as they are self sufficient so for then they just try to get rich or at least die trying.

The fact people ignored is the disparity between the rich and the poor, the richer is getting richer abd the poorer is getting poorer, it will continue.

We have not seen poverty the likes of our neighbours but that does not necessary we wont be there, perhaps nor anytime soon. Untl then, perhaps it's time to overthrow the despot once and for all. Never give a person or a party absolute power, absolute power corrupst absolutely.

No use.

OPPOSITION should highlight all these to the UN and DEMAND that the UN send observers during the ERECTIONs.

Also better hire good IT experts as I am sure ELECTRONIC VOTING will be used this ERECTIONs.

can someone investigate? let's cry foul to the entire internet community if something fishy is going on! based on past experiences, i sorry to regret to inform you that the possibility is there!

I am sure that our elected GPCs, Opp MPs and NMPs being "checks and balances" will raise this issue in parliament

The election department by itself must be independent. Their officials should be wise and loyal civil servants serving the citizens and should be non partisan.

This department serve the citizens, not the government whenever an election is to take place. They have the authority to see to it that election procedures are in sync with what the country's constitution laids out.

The PM /Cabinet and even the parliament cant and are in no position to appoint who to do what in the election department, it violates the constitution. This is what that's happening in singgi land.

agree

A independent election body outside the cabinet increase the chances of non-partisan officials for fair elections but PM, Cabinet, Parliament or Prataman can still appoint their men to the election body and do their bidding thus the election body became independent but secretly controlled by PAP.

Ultimately, the officials have to be non-partisan themselves.

Singaporeans had never seen an independent election department for a long time, since PAP took power, the fact that there are no oppossitions they started to plunder and rape the constitution to their advantage. It's now just an election department, not independent anymore.

The election department became a statutory board with its officials appointed by the PM / Cabinet and even parliament. Honestly do you expect non partisan members in there, dont place too high hopes. I bet my last penny most of them are their people PAP partisan.

Then ultimate solution is to deny the PAP lesser than two third if not vote them out. And to start a reform by looking at what had they done did to the constitution and repeal the amendments for the betterment of singapore. And of course a better level playing field when there's a general election.

The elections department itself reports to the PM's office so why should a handful of changes in personnel be earth shattering? Perhaps the lot got promoted with fatter paychecks for returning the PAP after all these years. An example for the newbies to follow no doubt.
