Dog owner fined $3,000

A WOMAN whose dog bit a man on the right foot was fined $3,000 on Monday and ordered to pay a compensation of $2,000 to the victim.
Seet Su Ya, 25, who does administration work, admitted being the owner of a Japanese Spitz Cross named Niu Niu which caused injury to Mr Prathap Thamy, 24, near Lorong 5 Realty Park on April 8 last year.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Grace Lim told the court that Mr Prathap, a student, was walking his two dogs at Lorong 5 Realty in Hougang that day when Niu Niu dashed out from an opened gate and attacked his dogs.
The victim tried to stop the attack by using his right hand and right leg.
Niu Niu then bit him on his right foot before biting the victim's Labrador on its tail and the Jack Russell on its neck.
Mr Prathap was given three days medical leave for his injury.
He was later admitted to hospital on April 24 when his right foot became infected.
