Doctor faces four charges

<!-- by line --> By Elena Chong

A DOCTOR was summoned to court on Wednesday to face four charges of breaching the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act. Wong Yoke Meng, 62, who runs Clinique Suisse at Paragon, allegedly sent specimens and samples taken from patients to foreign clinical laboratories not accredited by the Director of Medical Services between 2008 and 2009. He is thus said to have operated a medical clinic in breach of a licensing condition issued by the Ministry of Health. Wong specialises in detoxification and preventive medicine against aging. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $20,000 and/or a jail term of up to two years on each charge. A pre-trial conference has been set for March 12.
