CPF LIFE Standard and CPF LIFE Basic : Payout

Went into the CPF site to take a look on both the plan of CPF LIFE
Just off the cuff calculation, wouldn't it be better to go for the LIFE Basic Plan since the bequest is much higher and the payout is only at most S$100plus difference with 100X12 = S$1,200/year more than the Life Standard?.

Or is the calculation wrong.
Assuming the RA is at 155k (The current Minimum Sum is $155,000 (from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015))
God knows what figure they are going to come out next 5 years from now.

• Retirement Account Balance : $155,000.00

Based on your inputs above,
• You are not eligible for L-Bonus.
• Your preferred plan type is the LIFE Basic Plan.

Plan LIFE Standard
Monthly payout from 65 $1,201 - $1,330
Bequest at age 65 $185,590 - $190,482
Bequest at age 75 $41,374 - $43,698
Bequest at age 85 $0
Bequest at age 95 $0

Plan LIFE Basic
Monthly payout from 65 $1,102 - $1,223
Bequest at age 65 $223,556 - $234,410
Bequest at age 75 $162,039 - $172,007
Bequest at age 85 $73,571 - $77,843
Bequest at age 95 $0

1. The monthly payouts are based on the estimated amount that you set aside in your Retirement Account (RA) and the L-Bonus that you are estimated to be eligible for. The payout range is based on interest rates of between 3.75% and 4.25% and does not represent the lower and upper limits of the payout. The monthly payout may be adjusted every year to take into account factors such as CPF interest rate and mortality experience.

2. The bequest amount includes the estimated Retirement Account (RA) balance and annuity premium paid less annuity payouts that have been made under the plan. The estimated bequest amounts do not represent the upper and lower limits of the bequest amounts of the various plans. The interest assumptions used in above computations vary between 3.75% and 4.25%.

The results shown do not constitute financial advice. Depending on your retirement needs and personal financial situation, do exercise prudence when choosing your LIFE plan.

If you understand the concept of CPF Life, you might feel that it is flawed; effectively, you are asking retirees to bet on when they will die. If you die within a few years after the payout, you lose even more.

When it was first started, a lot of material were sent to eligible seniors and over 90% chose not to opt-in.
About 700,000 such CPF members were eligible to opt in. The CPF's website showed that as of Aug 10, there were 40,000 who took up CPF Life and committed $2 billion to the scheme.

Hi Run, just run thru 155k at 5% compounded. After 10years, amount is 252k, first dda is 65age.
Assuming 1k per month payout.

Principal will always remain at 252k for rest of life and bequest to children will be full 252k.
Problem is what is the fees being charged to manage this grand scheme of things call CPF Life

Hang those PAP maggots cockroaches with piano wires from lamp posts to make them dance before it is too late and we have no more CPF to get back.
BBQ those PAP maggots cockroaches before it is too late and we have no more CPF to get back.
Cut a few more arseholes into those PAP maggots cockroaches to let out their shit before it is too late and we have no more CPF to get back.
Make those PAP maggots cockroaches eat joss sticks and candle wax before it is too late and we have no more CPF to get back.

You sum it up, we shouldn't be betting when we die.

Ah run, life's too short to bet on when we die.
That is thinking way too far ahead.
Cpf as it is, need to make best of situation unless something drastic happen come 2016.
need to keep in mind, cpf should not be the only savings for ones retirement as goalpost always moving.

While easier said then done as I believe majority Singaporean do rely on cpf to do so.
Not easy, but not impossible.

Spend all you can and when run out and are still alive, go see your masters and immolate yourself to tell them you expire as your money expired.

NS is compulsory and is made known as a privilege to DAFT SINKIES, so I guess CPF LIFE also engaged the same theory.
