Cleaner charged with theft at Changi Airport

By Claire Huang | Posted: 13 February 2013 1332 hrs

SINGAPORE: A cleaner was on Wednesday charged with theft amounting to S$1,547 at Changi Airport.

Vironica Anthony, 50, is accused of stealing a necklace and a ring from a Chinese national, Zhang Suhua, on 3 December 2012.

The alleged theft took place in a female toilet at Changi Airport's Terminal 3.

Ms Zhang had left her sling bag in the toilet and when she returned to retrieve it, she found her necklace and ring missing.

She confronted the accused, but Anthony denied taking the items.

Investigations showed that the accused had shown the ring to two supervisors, claiming she had bought the ring.

If convicted, Anthony faces a maximum jail term of three years and a fine.
