The daily also reported about a woman who came all the way from China to meet her Malaysian friend, only to be robbed by him.

The woman had arranged to meet the man, whom she had befriended through the Internet a few months ago, for breakfast in Jalan Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday.

The man, in his 30s, arrived in a luxury car at the coffeeshop and while having breakfast, he suggested that the woman leave her handbag in the car.

He claimed that crime rate in the Klang Valley was high and as such, it was not safe to keep her bag lying about on the coffeeshop table.

He advised the woman, who is in her 20s, to keep her passport with her in case she needed it to prove her identity.

The man, who claimed he owned a company and had two bungalows near the Petronas Twin Towers, gave her RM100 to pay for the breakfast while he went over to his car “to collect something”, but drove off instead.

When the woman rang him, he confessed that his intention was only to rob her, challenging her to seek help from the triads to catch him.

There was RM3,000 in cash and some personal belongings worth thousands of ringgit in her handbag.

The woman has lodged a police report.
