NS man got injured in camp and became bedridden, yet SAF wanted to deny him compensation. Many bread winners of poor families got retrenched & replaced by foreigners and several were driven to suicide.

It's not that they don't believe.

He should have resigned his job as CEO and paid for his medical costs out of his own pockets. IMHO, although it was his entitlement, it did not make it right morally and economically.

Was talking about this issue with some medico friends of mine today and they were of the view that in Rich's case he would probably have been better off getting ALL his medical care and treatment at a top States hospital like Standford, Mayo, Sloan Kettering, Mass Gen etc...apparently Rich's leukemia requires constant skilled treatment and oversight, something that is perhaps still lacking in Singapore...

On the issue of medical care costs...this would probably have already been factored in at the start of Rich's contract, quite standard HR issue for management executives not just the top executives...moreover this would probably be covered by the company's health insurance policy...furthermore knowing ang moh executives, especially americans, I am pretty sure Rich had his own private family health care insurance as a back up
