Camera pen to record upskirt videos

A SALES manager who recorded about 200 upskirt videos of unsuspecting women over a four-month period has pleaded guilty.
Soo Ee Hock, 35, admitted to 12 of 201 charges of using a camera pen with a built-in video camera, to capture upskirt digital video recordings of women at various locations including Ang Mo Kio Hub, Compass Point and Junction 8 shopping centres. The offences occurred from Nov 11, 2008 to March 25, 2009.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Bagchi Anamika said Soo's offences were uncovered when a woman alerted a cleaning staff at Junction 8 in Bishan on July 7, 2009, that a 'male Chinese pervert' was trying to record images of women's undergarments.
Two security officers tailed Soo and stopped him at Basement One. He was later arrested by the police. Further investigation showed that Soo would clip a camera pen to the side of his laptop bag, switch it on and place the bag under the skirt of the woman standing in front of him on the escalator .
While DPP Bagchi had urged the court to take a serious view and impose a jail sentence on Soo, on each charge, lawyer Jeffrey Beh wanted fines for his client. Soo will be sentenced on Dec 14. He can be jailed for up to one year and/or fined on each charge of intruding into the privacy of the woman.
