Burglar faces more charges

A MAN who was charged a week ago with burglary of a Chinatown goldsmith shop involving $300,000 worth of jewellery was further accused of 16 charges. The property involved in the fresh charges against Tan Kok Leng, 29, amounted to more than $100,000. Among other things, he is alleged to have committed housebreaking and theft at two jewellery shops at Tiong Bahru Plaza and Jurong Point, breaking into HDB flats and theft from various people. The prosecution asked that he be remanded for another week as more charges would be tendered at the next mention. Tan was remanded again until Oct 12.
