By Elena Chong
ANOTHER teen was jailed on Tuesday for a series of CashCard thefts and criminal trespass into private homes. Rhamir Colita Johnston, 17, a British national, who pleaded guilty to 12 of 41 charges on Monday, was given four months and two weeks behind bars and ordered to pay compensation of $1,400.58 to seven victims. His sentence was backdated to his remand on June 29. Last week, his accomplice, Briton Grant Callum Pearson, 17, was jailed for nine months on nine charges with another 23 charges taken into consideration.
He had committed the offences while on probation and on police bail. The court heard that the duo, together with Chinese national Huang Ruo Chu, 16, committed criminal trespass into homes at Pasir Panjang and Siglap in May and stole mostly CashCards from vehicles parked at the homes. Huang's case is pending. Johnston could have been jailed for up to three years and/or fined for each count of theft; and jailed for up to three months and/or fined up to $1,500 for each charge of criminal trespass.
