A driver has been arrested after leading police on a kilometre-long car chase.
He is said to have sped off from a routine roadblock, with officers hot on his heels.
The man allegedly swerved his white Mazda 6 sedan from left to right, before mounting a kerb and hitting a lamp post in the early hours of Tuesday.
The 40-year-old driver then tried to flee on foot before allegedly turning violent and trying to resist arrest. Officers used their T-batons to subdue him.
