Alleged S'pore loan-shark boss nabbed in M'sia

From a lead following an islandwide crackdown on loan sharking activities in January, police arrested a 35-year-old Singaporean Chinese man in Johor Baru early yesterday morning.
He is believed to be the loan shark towkay (boss) of one of two unlicensed moneylending syndicates that were busted on Jan12.
But he had eluded arrest in that swoop during which police smashed the two separate loan sharking syndicates and arrested 13 Singaporeans – 12men and one woman aged between 27 and 52years old.
Both the two syndicates are believed to be collectively responsible for more than 400 harassment reports islandwide.
The New Paper understands that the suspect is also believed to have been operating illegally in Malaysia.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had worked with their counterparts in Royal Malaysia Police to locate the man after it was established that the suspect was in Johor Baru.
