</td></tr></tbody></table>SINGAPORE: A 17-year-old male who robbed a Chinese woman on Tuesday morning has been arrested.
At about 2.45am, the 21-year-old woman was walking along Bukit Merah View when the suspect pushed her from behind and tried to snatch her handbag.
When the victim tried to resist, the suspect punched her several times before fleeing with the handbag.
Her shouts attracted the attention of officers from Clementi Police Division, who had set up a police road block on Lower Delta Road.
They found the suspect on the third storey of a nearby block and arrested him.
The victim's handbag, which contained S$2,000 in cash and valuables, was recovered from the suspect.
He will be charged on Wednesday in court.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of not less than five years, with at least 12 strokes of the cane.
