Hi,

I got a Aussie PR but already coming to 40 year old and working in the Banking and IT sector.

I am wondering if Aussie do be like SG boss who prefer to employ younger staff at age ??

there's plenty of opportunities over there to be your own boss. either you can start up on your own or buy over an existing small business.

Business owners sell their business not bcos it's not profitable but rather they want to move on to other things in life or they want to retire etc.

Do your your due diligence and you will discover a whole new world.

I am 38 and I changed 3 jobs in 5yrs.. I dont think I have a prob of getting a job.. the only problem is whether they can pay me to be idle  I wana be lazy, enjoy and having family time, as well as having good pay.. only limited employers can povide that.

The environment here is superb !

Age is not really a factor in Oz, you'll be suprised how many people in their
60s are still in the workforce. My friend who is about 47 years old this year has just got a new job as an operations manager in a big company. There are lots of opportunities there if you are willing to work hard and smart. So long as you do not appear to be three quarters dead, you'll be all right.

All the best and a Happy New Year to you.

I am over 40 years young and still young at heart. I have no problem working for a Perth-based company.

Over here, you do not need to put your age in your CVs and if you are asian, they will not know your age. Anyway, age is not important but I understand that some employers do mind. Just don't work for them, there are other employers around. Otherwise, work for yourself.

A number of companies still like to employ the baby-boomers (all over 40s)

A number of Aussie lecturers who fly into Singapore to teach have second jobs. Good for tax reduction and for extra income.
