23 nabbed for drink-driving
A 4 1/2-hour operation by the Traffic Police yesterday morning nabbed 23 people for drink driving. The operation involved a ring-fence of drinking haunts around Clemenceau Avenue, High Street, Hill Street, New Bridge Road and River Valley Road. Two women were among those arrested. All those caught were aged between 23 and 54.
Commander of Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner Cheang Keng Keong, said in a statement that with illegal parking offences coming under the charge of the Land Transport Authority from tomorrow, the Traffic Police can better focus on policing traffic violations such as drink driving, speeding and driving while using mobile phones.
