2 Years Suspended Ban for Renault in Crashgate

Hi All,

F1 is dead. For 20 years I have followed the races and now the FIA has decided to slap Renault on the wrist with a ridiculous suspended 2 year ban for the outfit.

Not only does it smack of desperation to keep alleged top teams on the grid it also stinks of money politics. Right and wrong is merely perception and relative.

Fernando Alonso, the recipient of the winner's trophy gets away unscathed and totally exonerated despite the last time I checked this was a team sport.

Flavio Briatore is now banned for life from all motorsports activities, Briatore was going to retire anyway at the end of this season and he took an early departure while not admitting to any wrong doing.

While the actual mastermind, Pat Symonds, is given a 5 year ban.

The son of a Nazi, Max Mosley, did not mention the confiscation of prize money for the win nor did he mention if the win would be considered nullified and the monies be redistributed.

If it was Ferrari or worse still McLaren, there would be massive financial sanctions and points deductions; go figure.

The end of F1 is almost here and what is good about it is that stupid Sinkapoor has decided to have the races staged here, while worldwide viewership is on the down trend goes to show that anything this country touches turns to shyte!

Cheers,

MM

Agree with what you said. Alonso should at least return the trophy as a symbolic gesture. The dumb singapore govt should at least sue for some sort of damages.

700 staff will be out of job.

Hi Baimi,

I don't understand your statement of 700 staff being out of a job and how it plays in this ridiculous outcome.

Perhaps you mean that if the FIA were to kick Renault out it would mean 700 staff from their factory, team logistics and crew would be out of a job. Then perhaps you are right as this would be a main consideration given these times but the FIA is not there to decide on such matters since their role is to enforce the governing laws under its auspices.

If you compare what they dealt out to McLaren for the Spygate incident then this decision is farcical.

The FIA wasn't going to kick them out given that so many manufacturers are leaving the sport as it is, that was a gimme, but many would have expected the nullification of the win and the redistribution of the prize money from the race.

Funny, that Mosley was so adamant about rules yet he chose to totally abdicate his duty in this one, perhaps he couldn't care less since he is also retiring.

Anyway, this whole thing is a joke.

Cheers,

MM

Singapore is always world famous for the wrong reasons.

Hi Blackmore,

Singapore seems to attract all the bad press when it comes to its world's first thingies.

The Ferris Wheel for one was the only one to cock up so badly the whole world over, the claim to have the world's largest floating platform for the NDPAP Parade was rebuffed and proven to be false and now the first night race was a sham.

I can only laugh because the organisers have the PAP group think syndrome and that everything is within their control but they don't realise that there is always someone smarter that can toss a spanner in the works and raise a stink.

Cheers,

MM
