<!-- by line --> By Elena Chong
TWO former executives of Mustafa were each jailed for 12 months on Thursday for stealing almost $36,000 worth of mobile phones from their employer. K.A. Syed Buhari, 41, then an accounts executive, and Indian national Abubackar Tajudeen, 38, then a retail operations executive, pleaded guilty to the theft from Mustafa Centre at Syed Alwi Road between Jan 19 and Feb 9.
Both men had made full restitution to the company. Another similar theft charge involving eight phones amounting to $2,895 was taken into consideration during sentencing. These phones were recovered. A third former employee, Seeni Kader Ibrahim, 22, has been charged, and his case will come up again next Friday.
