TWO executives of a roast meat company were charged in court yesterday with helping the company to evade tax. Lew Eng Ho and Peh Tian Poh, both 47, are accused of failing to declare to the taxman sales income from the company amounting to $3.5 million between 2005 and 2007.
They are also alleged to have wilfully made false entries in the returns of Xing Wang Ji Roasted Meat Wholesale and Lai Wang Roasted Meat Wholesale on 19 occasions by under-declaring supplies totalling $4.4 million between 2004 and 2007.
Xing Wang Ji changed its business name to Lai Wang in 2007. Both companies were separately charged yesterday with tax evasion. The four parties face 66 charges in all.
