In the latest update from the family whose son, Ang Yong Han, died from
dengue fever, the father has told the media that he has sought a lawyer to sue
Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) for negligence.

According to a posting on Wanbao’s Facebook page today (1 Jun), Yong Han’s
father feels indignant over the sudden death of his son. He feels that his son
has died needlessly. He told Wanbao that he has already sought a lawyer to sue
TTSH for negligence:

Yong Han, the only child in the family, fell ill on Wednesday (22 May) with a
high fever. He then went to TTSH’s emergency department the next day (23 May,
Thu) and was diagnosed with viral fever. However, he was given Panadol tablets
and sent home. He was told to see a doctor in 3 days’ time, or to return if his
condition worsened.

However his condition did not improve and he returned to TTSH in the wee
hours of Friday (24 May). The mother, Mdm Yap, told the media that after waiting
for 5 hours, he left to go to a general practitioner near his home.

But TTSH said he arrived at 3am and was seen by a nurse within 5 minutes but
he still didn’t get to see a doctor after waiting for more than 2 hours. The
hospital said he approached a nurse at 5.18am to cancel his registration, and
left.

Around Saturday midnight (25 May) and in the early hours of Sunday (26 May),
Yong Han came back to TTSH with fever, body aches and vomiting and was finally
admitted to TTSH. He was later transferred to the Communicable Diseases Centre
(CDC).

He died three days later (29 May, Wed) of dengue shock syndrome.

When the family asked whether Yong Han could have been saved if he had been
admitted to hospital earlier, Associate Professor Lim Poh Lian, head of
infectious diseases at TTSH, said that his condition deteriorated on Monday, and
it would not have made any difference if he had been admitted to the hospital a
day or two earlier.

=> Would he have said the same thing if the patient is one of the so-called "elite" FAP Traitors? To these FAP Traitors, be reminded of this - for all all the evil you have done and how blatantly you have betrayed your fellow countrymen, it is 不是不报,是时辰未到!

What
Insensitive remark?(Quote)

Dear Lim Poh Lian,

Would you repeat what you said about the futility of any early admission to
TTSH if it had been your child who died? It is easy to shake away blame. Have
you done an investigation that you can be fully satisfied with the conclusion
leading to your comments? Had there been no investigation, on what basis are
your comments based on? Medical reasons? Please show cause. If you are simply
shaking off thinking that the poor family can’t afford to pursue, you are wrong.
I’m sure there would be enough Singaporeans who would donate to fund the
family’s legal proceedings. Remember Huang Na? If Singaporeans donated so much
money to a stranger, you bet we would for a fellow Singaporean who was getting
ready to serve national service.

Fellow Singaporeans, we must strongly condemn the senseless talk of this
professor. We must stand behind the family!

Hard to sue as pap will protect its institutions. However it sends a good signal to TTSH to wake up their idea.. i said it b4. The wait was bad, the wrong diagnosis was worse.

If I am not wrong, there is no medical drug cure for dengue fever. You can only prevent it from getting it from Aedes mosquitoes. It is very much up to the infected person's own body defense system to fight it out. The hospital could only provide intravenous fluids to maintain proper body fluid balance or worst case scenario, blood transfusion.

Overcrowdedness? Lack of Hospital bed? That’s why Yong Han was asked to go
back home to see if conditions worsened when he is from one of the highest
Dengue Fever infected area – Tampines?

Waiting for 5 hours in an A&E department? Any emergency case will become
a gone case by then?

All readers don’t take this lightly because the same thing can happen to
anyone of us and our loved ones!

Good that Yong Han’s father has sought a lawyer to sue TTSH for
negligence!

My deepest sympathies to the family and may Yong Han rest in peace.

A Professor like this Lim Cheebye should have more class as a human being.. But in actual fact he got a really Cheebye mouth to spout a truly insensitive remarks at this point of time especially when the victim's family is still in a state of tremendous grieve over the loss of their only child..

Now this is a worthy cause to back the family in terms of donations and protests. There must be accountability.

1. The rapid rise of dengue was predicted and played out in the press.

2. Zorro Lim in his capacity as deputy head of PA regaled the press about PA partnering with citizens and launching the first ever group effort nationwide to fight dengue only 2 weeks ago

3. I like to know if the hospitals infrastructure can cope with the additional load with significant increase in foreign intake. Are we pushed down the totem pole.

5. I want the coroner to demand a load balancing expert from the medical field from the States to explain the 5 hours.

My father died as a result of mis-diagnosis by the Hd of Dept .. he was coughing excessively n with some blood.
Dr told us one lung got some black shadow but unlikely to be TB as it is never in that part of the lung
He ordered a spitum analysis which during those days need to be sent to UK n takes about 2-3 months for result to return. He left it as that without telling us or directing that the shadow be further investigated
As it turned out it was lung cancer which took my father's live 3 months later!

When result came some 3 months later I got a call from the hospital asking for my father who has already gone 6 feet underground ie cremated. I told the nurse on the line that he has gone to China for a long holiday n won't be back soon.... She found it unbelievable n hung up! I guess she wanted to tell us that he got cancer!! Note they were too careful NOT to communicate in writing! Bastards!!!!!! Murderers!!

Guess which hospital?

In USA or UK I wud be very rich by now due to medical malpractise lawsuits!!

The moral of the episode: always get 2nd or 3rd opinion even now with medical advances over the years.

Another dispute! One say 5 hours, the other say 2 hours 18 minutes. Just like Workers Party and NEA. Nobody in SGP can agree on facts these days..

A trained medical profession would not have made that comment until an inquiry is completed.

I am sure this is going to be settled out of court.

This one, you do not have to take a bet... we all know already or behind the scene.. the family have may been warned, if they know better. There is no accountability or independent assessment here or what is called Ombudsman, even there is one, it is definitely titled to their favor. In SINgapore, you got to have, CONNECTION, MONEY, POWER & throw in SEX..."common man", "lesser mortals"...are "never left behind"..for they have no "behinds"...
