Bro GD, I only know fish that local SG don't desire but desire by Siam Kia. It's Tilapia aka Jit Poon Hee or Pla Nin in Thai.

Jit Poon Hee is Tilapa?, what dar pfish!? is that so. Do you know what jit poon hee eats?, back, way back at the farms, where they have a pond for their ducks & the convenience stall ( aka the toliet) they rear jit poon hee there.:p

Actual name should be Nile Tilapia. Yes, used to catch this fish at the reservoirs. This fish is very cheap and is mainly BBQ (with pandan leave/salt) or deep fried.

The other freshwater fish which is abundant in LOS is catfish (pla duk). This fish the not many locals or foreigners like. Usually served as salad dish (yam pla duk foo).

Empurau or Ikan kelah is now made popular in the local 5-star restaurants and selling at RM 500-550 per kg.Breeding and farming of the species is now successful carried out in RAS. This fish is one of the best fish to catch at the end of your line and is found in Malaysia (including Borneo), Indonesia and Thailand. It is also an expensive aquarium fresh water fish as it has large scales. There are many variants of this species, like blue, silver, gold and red. Red coloured Kelahs are highly valued, similar to Red Arowanas. The meat is delicious especially the stomach which is rich and what the Malays will say, very "lemak."

The Tilapia is a freshwater fish, commonly farmed all over over the world but I do not like it because most has got a muddy taste. The best and sweetest Tilapia I had ever eaten was in Philippines, Zambales at a friend's pond. This pond is special, as there is an underground spring that feeds the pond making the water clean and fresh. Ponds that do not have a fresh supply of water has fish that taste muddy.:(
