Hooligans beat up elderly man who asked them to smoke elsewhere
A STOMPer's 65-year-old dad was beaten up by a group of men when he asked them to smoke elsewhere. The beating left the elderly man with a fractured finger, bruised back and a black eye.
The STOMPer gives us the details:
"On August 4, at 8 pm, my father who lives along Seah Street (Opposite Raffles Hotel) was beaten up by group of four to five men.
"The incident was triggered by a misunderstanding over excessive smoking by these men at the stairwell of 31 Seah Street.
"My father, who lives on the third level unit, had amicably approached one of these smokers to ask them to smoke elsewhere as the smoke has risen up the stairwell from the second level to his third level unit, making it unbearable for him.
"These men had used the narrow stairwell, almost completely enclosed with little ventilation, to smoke. These men often smoke in the stairwell, in between their mahjong sessions.
"My father, unarmed, was tackled by these four to five men, with one of them raining punches on him repeatedly. As a result, he suffered a fractured ring finger, a bruised back as well as a black eye.
"My father was admitted to SGH A&E department by an ambulance. His status is pending review by the medical doctor. He was given some painkillers and eye drops last night and is still healing.
"His left hand is now in a cast due to the fractured ring finger, a injury which he sustained while trying to defend himself. His back is bruised because he was kicked in the back, and there is also internal bleeding in his left eye (the eye which was punched).
The bleeding in his left eye has subsided, but you can still see the redness in his left eye from the pictures.
"The police were called in to record the statements of these men, and investigations are still pending. When the police arrived at the scene, the group of men actually told the officers to wait for them to finish their round of mahjong before recording their statements!"
