Alvin is a nice guy but justifies PAP's decisions by looking at the positives. So he ends up evading the negatives.
Alvin was deliberately chosen because he projects a vulnerable nice guy image as opposed to Vivien who will put off a sloth in double quick time. Alvin like Hri Kumar is very sound on principles, logic and legality of things.
To handle Alvin, these are the tips.
1. Never approach any of the topics in terms of constitution, legal or if it is structured rightly. The constitution can say if legislative procedures are followed correctly that MPs can spit on peasants and its on sound footing. This has been Chee and SDP's problem, following the US liberals obsession with the constitution.
2. Talk about 2 party and plur al politics and not putting too many eggs in one basket with the PAP. The attempt to introduce NCMP and NMP is give cosmetic coat of better representation when they are powerless.
3. Talk only in Singaporean English and avoid legal terminology.
4. Ask answers for high barricades and hurdles to stand against the PAP.
5. Make sure that at the end of the session that you say that you are disappointed with the PAP (not alvin) as they have not answered any of the questions nor throw light on how these are going to affect singaporeans in a positive way.
Well done, GMS's publicity rating has gone in one direction only, all the way north !
Keep cool & make this chap look stupid ...
This Alvin Yeo guy is some half-baked lawyer I think, if I am not mistaken, he was at an NUS dialogue with undergrads on a panel with Sylvia Lim. He was positively slaughtered for his evasiveness & SOP-regurgitation of party line doctrine ....
