The first 1MDB related arrest has taken place at the request of the United States, in a move that will send shock waves and shivers through the Malaysian political establishment and also in related businesses in Hollywood and Las Vegas.

Sources close to Department of Justice officials in the United States have confirmed to Sarawak Report that the former CEO of Aabar, Mohamed Al Husseiny (top right), has been placed in detention by the authorities in Abu Dhabi, who are now processing an extradition request by the US Department of Justice, relating to charges concerning 1MDB.

Al Husseiny, who originated from Kenya, holds US citizenship, despite having moved to Abu Dhabi.

This is the first outward move in an investigation that has been ongoing in the United States and other jurisdictions for several months, into the disappearance of billions of dollars from the Malaysian development fund.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister, Najib Razak, who is the sole shareholder and signatory of the fund, has solidly denied that any wrong-doing took place.

For Najib, it is to hope that Dr M does not stay alive soon and he is the single factor why there is continuing momentum against Najib. In Malaysia, it is really Malaysia Boleh and they can live with any scandal and even the Mother of all scandals and may I add, even the Grandmother of all scandals etc.

Astute businessmen can read the writing on the wall. The FBI and Justice Dept do not make arrest if there are no evidence of a crime uncovered. They are certainly keen to know about money trail and whether it is linked at all to ISIS in a whirl pool of money tripping around.

Once the US, Singapore and others whose banking systems were used starts prosecuting the various actors, Najib will become a laughing stock and a liability to UMNO. He can control things within the country but not outside. Sanctions are also a possibility. They will ease him out and probably have his cousin to take over to avoid the negative profit. His situation is quite dire because the beneficiaries appear to be Rosmah, the stepson and couple of cronies. UMNO members probably thought it was meant to be the campaign funds but they are now finding out that money was used to fund Hollywood movies, luxury condos in the US, Jewellery etc, and they will likely wise up.

Interestingly the leaking of genuine documents are coming from nearly all the agencies in Malaysia that are involved including his own Office. I don't think there has been so much leakage of personal emails and documents to this extent.
