There are 3 groups of people. The 80% are peasants who need to queue up to 20 mins to get a simple transaction done and who get conned into buying insurance product that yield 1% per year when they could be getting much better ROI investing in quality blue chip stocks (but no one recommends that - no commissions, you see!)
The next 19% are those with at least $200,000 in investible assets under the bank. They get to join the priority queue with much shorter waiting time. These are the people who get conned with plunking 100 grand down into minibonds which then blow up in their faces
The top 1% are those which Leongsam described. They don't queue. At all. People go to them - and BEG to go to them. If they win, their banker RETIRES rich ON THE SAME DAY. If they lose SOMEONE GETS SUED.

Now I can do just about anything online, and don't have the time or patience to go queue up for hours at the bank. Seriously I am just curious why do people like to (have to) go to the bank and queue up just to transact things?
If you want to bank in cheques, you can use the quick check deposit. Bank in cash / coins, they have machines for that. Withdraw money, there's always the ATM. Transfer money, make payments etc, all these can be done online in the comfort of your own home. Maybe it's only during CNY season when you need to change new notes for Ang Pow, so have to queue up. But even that, I usually get friends / relatives who works as bank tellers to help out.
I would had thought with the advent of modern technology, the traditional banking halls where people queue up to do their banking transactions is obsolete.

Anyway the "monied class" you see there aren't really that privileged either. They still have to battle the traffic to get to there. The real rich never step into a bank. The bank sends staff to see them.
