No offense, but i think your innocuous comment here might upset some of our Singaporean friends here because it does sound like you are milking profit from Singapore HDB. Btw, I'm SPR too...
Also, if you are SPR, you might not want to discuss your intention to rent out HDB as under new HDB regulations, SPR can sublet their HDB not more than 5 years.

As far as I am concerned, I have no grudge against people who take advantage of the policy or system legally. The main culprit that we should go after is the one that make the wrong policy and refused to correct it wholeheartedly.

From what I know, they are only good at artificially increasing the country's GDP at the expense of the average and lower income groups' livelihood. By doing so, many from these 2 groups are made even more miserable presently.

This to me is not a good nor caring government worthy of any mention. They only care for themselves and the top 33% elites, not as a nation in general.

They just bring in rich people, even those with unknown or dubious source of income, to average up the GDP but no real increase in the living standard of people in general. Of course we all know by now, up GDP means up their own pay mah.

Yes. I knew that and I believe it is going to tighten further. I think it is good sign because one EP holder is equivalent to (most of the time) one entire family here as their spouse are able to work and they brought along their parents to take care of their kids.

Most people do that and I believe you are able to get contact to get suitable candidates for your work, no?

I have been to the showhouse, pretty good stuffs. Have you been to the Hilltop bungalow, Austin heights? very impressive indeed.

Cheers.

But I have certainly heard many horror stories on foreigners not being able to renew EP / S passes, etc. This has forced some companies to scale back or close - but these are companies that focus on price competition, often for commodity work and not creative work. So I think that's not a bad outcome. The disadvantage is that costs will go up in the entire value chain, but so be it.

Therefore, I think the tweaks are in the right areas. It just needs time to pan out.

re Straits View, I've maintained in this forum since last year that it's a deal worth looking at. Just this weekend, I was surprised to find out that bungalow prices have risen by half a million! This was due to the strong take up rates, completion of the clubhouse, swimming pool, etc and more importantly, the completion of EDL and 2nd permas bridge. In just 2 weeks since they launched phase 5, more than 40% of the available units were snapped up, mainly by referrals and those who didn't manage to get units in earlier phases.

It's pretty expensive now, but I hope one or two forummers here would have bought a unit in earlier phases so that we can be neighbors! So far, I'm probably the only one though... Not surprising as its a small development compared to HH, EL, LF or Senibong Cove.

No - haven't been to the Hilltop bungalow at Austin Heights because i prefer developments nearer the causeway. However, i will visit the showhouse on your suggestion. Does the showhouse have full landscaping?

Update.

Wow... Just saw a picture. Is this the one?

Is the showhouse ready? Is an appointment needed or can we just walk in?

With the new expressway, travelling time from Austin Heights to causeway take only 10-15 minutes.

The showhouse is located at the highest point in Austin Heights and very close to sport facilities.
Yes full landscaping and breath taking view

Glad that SPR admit that there are SPRs milking profit from Singapore HDB. Another common way to take advantage is one spouse convert to citizen, one spouse remains SPR, and then both applies BTO for even more profit.

. Unfortunately I'm not one of those fortunate SPRs. I've missed the boat. My career took off too late, I got married too late - I will never be eligible for HDB so I don't own any. I don't think I will be able to afford private property in Singapore too, so I'm forced to uproot here in Nusajaya.

As it's clearly state in the intro of this forum, aside from those who come purely for investment; there are many Singaporeans are forced into Nusajaya because of the same reason as me. So, I just want my fellow SPRs to be more tactful when they are commenting here - you don't want rub someone the wrong way. Also, I have respect to Wuqi and several members here who have shows great respect to my country Malaysia as their host - so I want to reciprocate the gesture. After all, Singapore have been a great host for me all these years, and have given me so much opportunities that I could never have in my home country.

Is it really 10-15 mins? I have taken EDL from causeway to Tebrau Aeon. Exited when the sign says Tebrau. Must make a U turn upon exit from EDL. The traffic is very heavy before and after the U turn. Did I take the wrong route because that seems like quite a distance to me. Or perhaps I turned out too early from the EDL?

Yes. Agree on ur view. We sinkies are only guest to the host (Msia). We should try to adapt to the environment there. Didnt they say when in Rome do wat the Romans do? Unlike tiny red dot, we (blue breed sporeans) are the guests to the host (FTs).

Temasek and Khazanah's Wellness Township in Medini is expected to be launched early next year.

The residential side would comprise 96 bungalows, 68 semi-detached homes, 445 terrace houses, 1,415 condominium units and one block of serviced apartments.
Some 18 acres have been earmarked for commercial property.

On its target customers, Chan explained that they would be locals and foreigners above 40 years of age and from the middle-income group.
(Just like the RM1 mil terraces discussed earlier, the developer's targeted customers for such higher-end properties are the middle-income group, not the average workers. Thus it is wrong to say that RM1 mil terraces cannot sustain because the average Malaysian workers cannot afford even with EPF).

It is encouraging to know Danga Island has sold so well.. Leaving the place empty will be an eyesore..

Dear Newbie2012,

I have to correct your misconception that everything in Nusajaya seems to be waiting for Singaporeans before it gets successful. You are absolutely wrong. Sorry to say that you have projected a view which is rather naive and I was very glad that Bro Investor shared his wisdom! I have just quoted below a statement from an article on the sales of Danga Island similar to Sentosa Cove. These properties ranging from RM 4 million to RM 12 million. I would like to offer you a thought, you dont need to be earning millions before you would own a million dollar property! If you want to know how, try playing Cashflow Game.......

"Of the 70% Danga Island Villas units sold todate, Datuk Lim said 27% of the purchasers were Johoreans, 28% from Kuala Lumpur and Penang, and 6% from Sabah and Sarawak. Purchasers from the Middle East countries, India, Pakistan, Canada and Spain accounted for about 38%, 5% from Singapore and 2% from Hong Kong."

Cheers

No need uturn. If i remember correctly, exit at tebrau highway towards Kota tinggi/desaru.
Or can exit further on at Adda Heights. 15mins is likely with no jam.

Our govt policy allow that to happen.. Not the SPR fault.. If we were the SPR, very likely we will do the same. One thing that is common is we all work in Singapore and retire elsewhere.. I agree our govt are too much and we always wonder their objective is to serve the people or to milk the common folks for their bonus...

Middle finger to them..

No need u-turn. U-turn means u exit a road too early. Try the next slip road out next time
