Zookeeper attacked by jaguar
THURMONT (Maryland) - AUTHORITIES at a wildlife preserve in Maryland say a zookeeper is in critical condition after a jaguar attack. Frederick County Animal Control director Harold Domer says the 300-pound (136-kilograms) jaguar attacked the woman while she was inside an enclosure on Sunday. Mr Domer says she hadn't secured the area. The woman was bitten several times and flown to a Baltimore hospital, where she was in critical condition. The Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo in Thurmont, about an hour outside Baltimore, says the two jaguars in the enclosure at the time have been quarantined. Mr Domer says he plans to meet with the executive director of the preserve to discuss the incident. -- AP
