Actually, I did not want to step into this. To Eric, I thank you for coming to my defence about my pictures being posted elsewhere without my permission. I appreciate your kind intentions for me and hock rong. However, the compliments stop here.
Personally, I am a Buddhist and view karma as a cause and effect issue which is more on oneself. Then again, you still do not have the right to tell people to blame on their karma. It is up to them to see what is fit, cos it is their life - not yours. Initially when I read your post, I was angry at you for being a insensitive Singaporean who has no empathy for people like the previous Miss Wee. Now I calmed myself down before writing this.

Hey for heaven's sake, please don't tell people to blame their forefathers. You ought to count yourself lucky for having everything laid out for you by your parents with job and a car. Others don't have rich parents. gotta understand that. It tells me that you have it too easy in your life. IF you ever meet into a mishap, I am not sure how you can survive.

Take myself as a example, I count myself lucky to have good upper middle class parents who are willing to put me through university which I never dreamt of being able to go 5 years ago. My best secondary school friend had it tougher cos his parents are poor. When we did 'O' levels together, he did well to go to JC and I bombed big time again and again. He bombed big time in 'A' levels and had to go to poly. I went on to American education system and regained myself. He is now in NTU and still have 2 years to go. Sometimes, it is just fate and a little bit luck. I used to feel inferior to him and he consoled me. When he fell, I returned the courtesy to him.

As a history and political science major yourself, I am sure that you studied political revolutions happened in history. It is always because the gap between the haves and have-nots are too big. The Russian peasants' living conditions vs the noble aristocrats. The ruling Qing nobility vs the chinese masses. so on and so forth. Right now, the Gini Coefficient for Singapore is getting worse, indicating the widening disparity between the rich and the poor. This is a warning sign for the possibility of the Singapore revolution.

For Sammyboy or kopitiam, I never bothered about responding to nasty name calling etc cos I found it meaningless and not worthwhile to engage. lesson learnt from my previous fighting experience and from President Obama. "Never waste a minute thinking of people you don't like." - President Gen Eisenhower. Only for a worthy cause, I will debate or fight all the way. Why? Cos life is short and I have only 1 life. Why should I waste my time , effort on people or things that ain't worth it ? that is the way I see things.

Eric, you gotta nurture yourself to be more sensitive. One way to do that is when you do MPS, you will see some people's desperate eyes looking for help. Please be more understanding. Of course, there are some people who are freeloaders or want to attract attraction from MP. But never dismiss people straightaway as whiners.

As for the job market, I must admit that it is tough everywhere , especially now. Even in America where the H1 visa for foreigners are more stringent and tougher to obtain, the unemployment rate is over 10%. Hopefully 2010 will be a better year.
