Just to remind you how far we’ve come technologically... In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first "Super Computer" with a hard disk. The hard drive was able to store 5 MB of data and weighed over a ton.

Even in Spore there were such things as BBS(bulletin boards) in the early years. The internet has existed for a long time but it was restricted technology in Spore :). In those early years you had email, AOL, gopher,....

I remember going around trying to get access to email & few people knew what I was talking about because the PAP tried to control access to the internet:mad: It was only when I joined an MNC that I had access to the internet. They finally offered internet access via Singnet & there were pages & pages of rules you had to agree to:eek:

that is the computer. not the hard drive, you are misleading everyone again.

1911 , US browning made the 1911 colt 45, it is still one of the best in 2012.

what technological advance?

why not compare 2012 SAF against 1943 German army, see who wins? German will crush SAF like ants.

For me the largest impact was to the cost of trading US & Malaysian shares. I used to go through a life broker & it would only make economic sense if trading in large amounts. Otherwise the cost would be prohibitive. With the internet plus discount brokers trading these shares is now cheaper & a breeze:)

Old CT

First sound blaster was only mono sound.

An 80s local drama cast by Zhu Hou Ren as Mr. Sim Wong Hoo (CEO of CT). I recorded this in my DVD Vid Rec once, I don't think I kept this in my DVDRs. Very old drama - more than 20 years.

The firm began as a computer repair shop, where Sim Wong Hoo developed an add-on memory board for the Apple II computer. Later, they started creating customized PCs adapted in Chinese. A part of this design included enhanced audio capabilities, so that the device could produce speech and melodies. The success of this audio interface led to the development of a standalone sound card.

Re: Old CT

Still remembered the good old days of a 486 PC. If you had 8Mb of RAM all your friends would envy you and eagerly want to come to your house to play DOS games.

my first computer was something this...Mac II.

apple2-300x203.jpg

The 2nd computer was a Intel280. Cost me more than SGD3000 then. Comes with a 40mb harddisk, a dot matrix printer and modem.
