Man in his 20s dies after SCDF water rescue attempt along Singapore River
A man in his twenties was pronounced dead after rescue efforts by the SCDF early this morning (Oct 8) along the Singapore River.
In a news release, SCDF said:
"This morning at 3.44am, SCDF was alerted to a water rescue incident at Tan Tye Place.
"SCDF immediately dispatched 2 Fire Engines, 1 Heavy Rescue Tender, 1 Ambulance, 1 Lighting Tender and 1 support vehicle to Tan Tye Place (Clarke Quay) near Novotel Clarke Quay.
"Upon arrival, SCDF immediately commenced search and rescue operations at the location the subject was last seen.
"Diving at a depth of about 4 metres, DART rescuers found the body of a man at approximately 4.45 am. The body of the victim was located about 3 metres away from the riverbank.
"The victim was pronounced dead by SCDF Paramedics at 5.06 am. He is believed to be in his 20s."
