One of Batman’s most menacing Batmobiles could soon be yours.
Wayne Enterprises has partnered with Action Vehicle Engineering to create a limited run of 10 Batmobile Tumblers, each an exact replica of the one used in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. Drivable (though not street legal) and built completely to scale, this Warner Bros.-sanctioned collaboration would make many comic book-related childhood dreams come true.
Sold by invitation only, each Tumbler is expected to take 15 months from deposit to delivery. Every facet of its surface has been carefully studied to match the original whose initial model was cobbled together from various model car, boat and airplane kits. Under the hood, a 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 engine with 525 hp marries a 4L85E paddle shift transmission, which should deliver a fair amount grunt. And though it might not have all the bells and whistles of a real Batmobile, the car does come outfitted with a smokescreen delivery system and mock gun turrets along the exterior of its Kevlar, carbon fiber, and sheet metal fiberglass body.
