男子疑醉酒闹事 深夜拿麻将桌音响狂砸宝马

义顺一名男子疑似醉酒闹事，深夜拿着麻将桌、音响和垃圾桶往停车场的一辆银色宝马狂砸。（图：曾琬瑜）
A man in Yishun was suspected to be drunk and causing trouble. He took a mahjong table, a stereo and a trash can and smashed a silver BMW in the parking lot late at night, causing other residents to call the police.
The incident happened at around 10 pm the day before yesterday (14th) at the parking lot of Block 729, Yishun Ring Road.
A resident who did not want to be named told Channel 8 that he was taking a shower when he suddenly heard a loud "bang" and then heard a man shouting.
"I thought someone downstairs was arguing or moving things. The noise was really loud! Later, I looked out the window and found that a man with a naked upper body, wearing only cropped pants and no shoes was smashing the car. He looked very angry."
According to him, the man was tall and brought a mahjong table, a trash can, and even a stereo from somewhere to smash a silver car.
"He smashed the car with great force. He smashed the mahjong table several times, and then smashed it with a trash can and a speaker. Each time, the windshield made a loud 'pop' sound."
The reporter visited the scene this morning. The smashed silver BMW was still parked in the parking lot. The windshield was full of cracks and the front of the car was very dirty. Next to the trash can nearby was a mahjong table with four legs missing, several wooden sticks and two speakers.
Several residents called the police
Many residents were disturbed by the man's excessive noise. Some residents chose to watch from the window, but more people were worried that the man might do more extreme things, so they called the police.
A resident living on a high floor said: "I was watching TV in the living room at the time, and suddenly I heard a series of loud noises. At first I thought someone was moving something, but I didn't expect that someone was crazy smashing cars."
Another resident said that the man's behavior made the entire parking lot echo with huge crashing sounds, and he called the police immediately. "When I called the police, the police told me that they had already known about it because many residents had informed them."
Ms. Wang, who lives on the lower floor, told reporters: "At the time, we were observing and discussing whether to call the police. As a result, within a few minutes, we heard that other people had called the police. Later, the police came very quickly and arrived at the scene in more than ten minutes."
Witnesses at the scene said that when the police arrived, the man was still very emotional. The police tried to communicate with him, but he did not cooperate. After a brief confrontation, the man was finally subdued by the police and taken to the police car.
"The man is believed to have done this because he was drunk. He should not know the owner of the BMW and is not seeking revenge."
The reporter visited the home of the man involved. A woman said she didn't know what happened and declined the interview.
Man arrested for multiple crimes
When asked, the police said that they received a report at 10:40 pm the day before yesterday and went to Block 794, Yishun Ring Road to provide assistance.
A 30-year-old man was sent to the hospital in a conscious state and was subsequently arrested.
He is currently under investigation for multiple crimes including mischief, drunkenness and causing trouble, intentional wounding, using violence to obstruct a public servant from performing his duties, and using insulting language against a public servant. The
investigation is still ongoing.
