Man dies after street stabbing
A 21-year-old who was training to be a shift manager at a Hungry Jacks was stabbed to death as he walked to work.
The Indian man, who lived in Newport, was stabbed in the stomach in Cruickshank Park, West Footscray, about 10pm.
He staggered into the restaurant on the corner of Somerville and Geelong roads and pleaded for help before collapsing.
He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, but later died.
Police said the man, who had permanent Australian residency, got off the train at Yarraville station, walked along Anderson St and into Cruickshank Park where he was attacked.
