MS PONG CHAN HONG: 'At the Serangoon Interchange one morning, I witnessed a female security guard's futile bid to check a man's heavy backpack. He ignored her order to have his backpack checked and carried on walking towards the escalator leading to the North-East Line. Helpless, the guard walked away. It seemed to me that the guard was unsure about handling such an important security procedure and I would hope that the authorities remedy the situation.'
