【星島日報報道】（星島日報報道）將軍澳工業邨卡樂Ｂ廠房昨驚現百年手榴彈，相信在第一次世界大戰時被投擲過、但未有爆炸的德國製手榴彈，竟「穿越」一世紀隨法國一批薯仔運抵食物工場，工人檢查時發現報案，警方爆炸品處理課人員經檢查後，認為手榴彈撞針已拔走，存在危險，須即場引爆。警方認為事件不涉刑事成分，至於為何入境時未能檢測到，須交由相關部門調查。
食物工場驚現「薯仔手榴彈」。現場為將軍澳工業邨駿昌街九號卡樂Ｂ四洲有限公司香港工場廠房。消息稱，一批共逾噸重薯仔，數日前由法國運抵上址廠房。昨上午九時許，職員將薯仔放進機器篩選期間，機器顯示異常狀況，查看赫見內藏一個沾滿泥土的金屬圓形可疑物品，保安主任獲悉連忙報案。
警方封鎖現場調查，並聯絡爆炸品處理課人員到場，將該金屬物品移往安全位置。經檢驗後，證實金屬物品為第一次世界大戰時，德國製造的手榴彈，直徑約八十毫米，重約一公斤。
該手榴彈撞針已拔去，相信當時曾投擲但無引爆，由於處於不穩定狀態，爆炸品處理課人員認為有危險，須即時處理；消防員其後奉召到場協助，出動一條喉及兩隊煙帽隊拉喉戒備。
身穿防爆裝備的爆炸品處理課人員，在工場空地揭開數塊去水渠渠蓋，小心翼翼將手榴彈放置到約一米深渠下，然後堆起沙包。至昨午近一時，爆炸品處理課人員以水壓掩蓋方式成功引爆手榴彈，隨着一聲轟然巨響，碎片散滿地上。
事件中沒有人受傷，亦無財物損失，引爆期間由於威力不算強大，故廠房內約二十名職員毋須疏散，惟對開一段馬路須暫時封閉。現場所見，廠房空地放有三個大鐵籠，為同一批次約一千個薯仔，警方拉起封鎖線圍封。
將軍澳警區助理指揮官（行動）警司黃浩瀚指，由於該枚手榴彈的外層被泥土包圍，警方相信手榴彈與同一批次的薯仔由法國運港，暫無證據顯示事件涉及刑事成分。至於為何入境時未能即時檢測到，則須交由相關部門調查。
資料顯示，日本「卡樂Ｂ食品株式會社」與香港「四洲貿易有限公司」攜手合作，至一九七六年卡樂Ｂ蝦條登陸香港市場。一九九四年「卡樂Ｂ四洲有限公司」正式成立，當時於西貢廠房建立生產線，生產蝦條及粟一燒，至二千年在將軍澳工業邨設立廠房。
