A male student at the engineering school in Wuhan University who lent a hand to a female student who fainted by the roadside has been praised for his deed by internet users.
The student carried the young woman to her dorm on the sixth floor, then left quietly. The female student, who never got to see her rescuer, was moved by this act of kindness from a stranger.
A netizen posted a message on the internet saying that the young woman wants to "marry him" to thank the man for helping her, according to the website of the 21st Century Media Group in Guangzhou.
The local Wuhan Morning Post reported on Sept. 8 on a post by "Yu Ruoxi," who claimed to be seeking a male student that rescued her friend when she collapsed due to sudden menstrual pains. While the friends accompanying her were at a loss as to what to do, a male student took the initiative to carry the unconscious girl to her sixth floor room.
"Yu Ruoxi" said the student who fainted had asked her to post the message so she can show her gratitude for his kindness. That she wanted to "marry him" was only an exaggeration intended to point out the gratitude the girl felt.
A reporter from the Wuhan Morning Post eventually found the student named Ke Jiacong, from Hainan, who is freshmen at the university, as is the female student.
He said in response to the attention he has received online that what he did was normal and not at all heroic. "I was not carrying the girl to the sixth floor nonstop without running out of breath like they said. I took a rest midway," he admitted.
Ke said he had also received the messages of thanks sen by the female student afterwards.
Netizens are still keen to see a relationship develop between the two.
