So why are things more expensive now with the currency rising 40% in value? Shouldn't imports be cheaper?

Because Sinkieland is a money laundering hub. All that dubious money brought into the country will cause prices to soar. That money cannot exist in a vacuum and not affect the rest of the economy.

Then why Dr. Tan of MOM still issuing so many EP and S Pass to CECA Indians?
Last year, he offended many union leaders.

There are some labour-intensive jobs that are more suitable for men. He advocated to them that must DEI, have more women.

Those jobs are not suitable for ladies, so that means, women are going to be supervisors in aircon room, while the men slot it out and denied career progression.

A company in need of a roti canai maker placed an ad in Malaysian paper New Straits Times, offering a monthly salary of RM5,000 (S$1,420) to work in Singapore.
A debate then ensued over the competitiveness of such an offer.

Meals and accommodation included

In addition to the salary, which was RM5,000 (S$1,420) "and above", the position also includes the offer of a prayer room, meals and accommodation.
The ad asked interested applicants to contact a Singapore-based WhatsApp number.
New Straits Times, writing about their own ad, spoke to Jeremy Lim, vice president of the Malaysian Restaurant and Bistro Owners Association.
"The offered salary may sound substantial in ringgit terms, but when converted to Singapore dollars and considering the cost of living on the island, it might not provide the desired quality of life," he said.

Brain drain

However, Lim added that retaining talent in Malaysia is "challenging" as workers sought jobs elsewhere, enticed not only by the salary but other opportunities available.
Back in March 2023, Malaysia's then-human resources minister V Sivakumar revealed that of the 1.86 million Singaporeans who emigrated overseas in 2022, 1.13 million of them went to Singapore.
Sivakumar called the "brain drain" issue a "heavy burden" for Malaysia.

WHEN Lawrence Wong succeeds Lee Hsien Loong as Singapore’s new prime minister next month, he will inherit not only a healthy economy but also robust local assets from a rallying currency to outperforming bonds and stocks.
Since Lee entered office in 2004, the Singapore dollar has risen about 40 per cent against the currencies of the city-state’s major trading partners, more than twice the gain for the US dollar in the same context, Bloomberg-compiled data show. Total returns on Singapore government bonds have outpaced their global peers by around 16 percentage points in the same period.
