INDIAN police were hunting for three men who allegedly drugged, kidnapped and raped a teenage girl.
In the latest shocking incident of violence against girls and women in the country, a 19-year-old victim was abducted her from a bus stop before being gang raped by 12 men.
The alleged attack of the girl comes as India experiences an epidemic of rape
The fiends dropped her off later in their car in Mahendragarh, a town about 90 miles southwest of the Indian capital, New Delhi.
Police have revealed know the identity of the suspects, but they had switched off their phones and were evading arrests.
The victim suffered injuries on her back, shoulders and private parts, The Times of India newspaper reported.
Shockingly, it has emerged the suspects knew the girl and her family and had been following her before the well-planned attack.
The attack happened in the Indian city of Mahendragarh
The victim's mum said yesterday that her daughter was in a state of shock while the accused “roaming freely”.
Her mum told the paper: "She has severe pain in her throat, and is unable to talk or swallow anything. They probably held her by the throat, which led to this pain."
Numerous Indian media report that the suspects were believed to be from her village and known to her.
Three of the key suspects have been identified as Pankaj, who is in the army, Nishu and Manish.
Pankaj, one of the three suspects, is reportedly in the Indian army
India has been shaken by a series of sexual assaults since 2012, when a student was gang-raped and murdered on a moving New Delhi bus.
That attack galvanised a country where widespread violence against women had long been quietly accepted.
