there are three super powers currently.
US just help to destroy one, EU working closely with Russia.
Now US going after the other, China.

Russia is a power? Hardly anyone speaks Russian, use Russian currency, buy Russian products (excluding oil and arms) or watch Russian tv shows.
Russia working closely with europe is a superpower. That friendly relationship must end.

Russia was a superpower in the 1950s and 60s. Their economy was doing fine, they had a strong military and they were able to export a lot of soviet communist ideology. A lot of good white people, including top government officials in the West actually thought the Soviets would win the Cold War.

Russia in the post-Cold War is understood to be more like a sickman, just like the Ottoman or Qing empires in their final century of existence.

Its not russia. Its russia with the EU that is a threat to US hegemony. Russia alone is not a threat.
EU economy is bigger than the US. To counter this, US created NAFTA, which is bigger tban EU economically.
EU, we mean germany, the powerhouse. Germany was getting too close with Russia due to its dependence on cheap Russian lng. Plus German's appreciation to Russia pulling out of east germany and eastern europe.
US needed to break up that relationship.

EU historically has no leadership. It's just a group of countries that banded together for economic purposes and ease of travel. EU is not with US anymore than it is with Russia.

The European grouping with leadership is NATO, which includes most of the important EU countries along with turkey.

Germany is no threat. They have been slashing defense budget for decades to give to useless moslem refugees and for their aging population. Even for advanced German military equipment, they are not making enough of it on a large scale. More for some wayang or a battle skirmish.

Russia is a poor country but culturally they have made a mark with on classical music, literature and ballet.

They've also gone head to head before with USA for sports

Hardly anybody listens to tchaikovsky or read 'war and peace'. Most people remember that USSR/Russia gone head to head with USA in "Rocky 4" movie.
