World’s first artificial kidney created
A US-based Indian researcher Shuvo Roy has created the world’s first artificial kidney for transplant that would be able to filter toxins out of the bloodstream, regulate blood pressure and produce vitamin D, Tamil Nesan reported.
The artificial kidney had been reported to be successful during tests in a small number of animals. Once available, and if affordable, this creation by the Roy-led team at the University of California will do away with the need for kidney dialysis.
