WP is shrewd and smart to cater to all segments of the population. There are also a significant numbers of people in their 60s and 70s who came and listened to them. Mr Lim colloqial Hokkien, spoken in a simple but direct way will be more than enough to put across his message to them,whether in Hougang or elsewhere. It is special that Low and Lim knew how to galvanise support by bringing its message to many people in the local dialects.
There is also a psychological impact in that the WP is non-elitist and as heartlanders as everybody else.
