MALACCA: A trip here from Penang to meet a Facebook friend turned into a hellish nightmare for a 28-year-old construction worker, when a group of men locked him up in a dog kennel for eight hours with a ferocious German Shepherd watching over him.
The victim, from Tok Kangar, Juru, in Bukit Mertajam, claimed he was waylaid by five men after meeting his friend at a restaurant in Ayer Keroh here on Sept 1.
One of the men claimed to be his friend's uncle, who wanted the victim to stay away from the girl.
The man allegedly seized the victim's MyKad and threatened to put him behind bars.
The victim was then pushed into a car and driven to a house in Bukit Berendam, where he was allegedly locked up in a cage, with the big German Shepherd standing guard over him.
After eight hours, the victim was released from the cage but was confined in one of the rooms in the house.
He claimed his captors took his wallet containing RM168 and two handphones. They also threatened to beat him up.
The victim managed to flee by prising open the room door and jumping over a fence when the abductors were not looking.
He then sought the help of some neighbours, who contacted the victim's brother in Malacca.
The brother came to fetch the victim and drove to Penang, where a police report was lodged at the Seberang Perai Tengah district police headquarters on Sept 2.
The case has since been referred to the police here.
