SINGAPORE: Friends continued to stream in to pay their last respects to Lo Hwei Yen on Monday, the second day of her funeral wake.
The 28-year-old Singaporean was shot and killed by terrorists in the Mumbai attacks.
Flowers to the family streamed in throughout the day, a testament to how much Ms Lo will be missed.
Several members of the public also offered their condolences to her family.
Although they may not have known Ms Lo personally, they said they too shared in the family's loss.
"We felt very saddened. Such a young girl (and she) just passed away like that," said one.
Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, a close family friend who had attended Ms Lo's wedding, came to say his final farewell Monday evening.
Several other ministers and grassroots leaders also paid their last respects.
They included Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean, Environment and Water Resources Minister Yaacob Ibrahim, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainal Abidin Rasheed, and some 88 grassroots leaders from Marine Parade.
Mr Goh offered his sympathies to the family and said Ms Lo's death serves as an important reminder for Singaporeans to be always vigilant.
He said: "In Singapore, we have to make sure that something like this will never happen. That means no large scale attack on our facilities in Singapore. So that's the job of our security authorities. But also the job of every Singaporean to be vigilant.
“If you see something suspicious, report. Just make sure that we don't suffer a similar sort of attack on Singapore."
President of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) Mohd Alami Musa also attended the wake. He said that the Singapore Muslim community will work together with the rest of other Singaporeans to ensure that such acts of terror do not happen in Singapore.
