Woman to be compensated for faulty kit
SEREMBAN: The Consumer Claims Tribunal Court yesterday ordered SmartSaver Technology, a company dealing with energy saving products, to reimburse civil servant K. Eeswary, 42, for an ineffective kit. Court president Mohd Nasrim Mohd Salleh ordered the company to reimburse Eeswary RM2,199.
The court ordered it to do so in 14 days after receiving the court’s letter, sent to SmartSaver’s office in Shah Alam. Nasrim said Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) never recognised the energy saving kit and that the sales respresentative did not produce any approval letter from TNB. SmartSaver and its Pagoh sales respresentative Rosdi Abd Rahman were not present in court.
Eeswary said that Rosdi convinced her that her RM200 monthly electricity bill would be reduced by 30% after using the kit. However, the RM1,999 kit proved ineffective after three months while Rosdi failed to replace it after Hari Raya as promised. She said SmartSaver not only dismissed her claim but also denied having a Pagoh sales respresentative named Rosdi. — Bernama
