SINGAPORE: Police on Friday arrested a 23-year-old woman for suspected involvement in loan-sharking activities.
The suspect was arrested around Bukit Batok Central through follow-up operations by officers from the Jurong Police Division.
Four ATM cards and a mobile phone containing debtors' records were seized.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect is a debtor-turned-runner.
She allegedly helped loan sharks in performing fund transfers via ATMs and collected ATM cards from other debtors for use in loan-sharking activities.
The suspect will be charged in court on Saturday.
If found guilty, first time offenders can be fined at least S$30,000, jailed a maximum of four years and possibly caned.
