Woman sees branch fall and kill her hubby
KUALA LUMPUR: A bank employee was killed after a 5m-long tree branch fell on him in Jalan Raja Chulan here. Mohd Helmi Hussin, 37, had dropped off his wife Hayati Hussain at work barely five minutes before the incident at 8.30am. He was riding his motorcycle when the branch suddenly dislodged and fell on him.

A horrified Hayati witnessed the incident, which occurred about 500m from where she was standing. Witness Shamsul Liani Abas said a distraught Hayati was heard uttering to her dead husband “nak ikut” (I want to follow).
“Her colleagues who heard about the incident consoled her,” he said. A police spokesman said initial investigations revealed that Helmi suffered injuries to his abdomen and hip. “The branch was rotten and shallow inside.”
The Fire and Rescue Department, together with City Hall, cleared the branch within 45 minutes. Mohd Helmi’s body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem. He was buried in his hometown in Ipoh yesterday evening.
