Unsure of where to place her trolley full of groceries, this woman resorted to placing it precariously on a bus seat facing a STOMPer, propping it up with her foot. Her shoe can clearly be seen in the picture.

In an email yesterday (Dec 04) Rosslinna said:

"This auntie had no place to put her marketing trolley while travelling onboard bus 72 ( the new type bus) as she wanted to sit down also. We were sitting at the back seats downstairs a double-decker bus.

"She ended up putting her trolley on the seat which was opposite me. She used her leg to put there to prevent it from falling down."

STOMPer Tay feels that inconsiderate commuters, who occupy more than one seat in buses, should be told to pay extra fare.

This STOMPer saw a selfish man making himself comfortable, by propping his feet up on an empty seat and placing his belongings on another, in bus 975 yesterday(4 Dec).

The STOMPer says:

"This photo was taken around 11.27pm and the bus was heading towards Bukit Panjang interchange.

"As you can see, the man placed his smelly feet on the seat and placed his stuff on the other two seats. Maybe, we should consider asking this kind of people to pay extra fare.

"He was making a phone call at that point of time and from what I heard, he was speaking English. It seemed as if he was quite highly educated. I wonder what rubbish he learnt in school!"

It is a shame to witness this sort of ugly behaviour being displayed again and again aboard buses and trains, despite numerous posts in STOMP on selfish commuters who refuse to give up their seats to those who need it more.

This picture, sent in by STOMPer klayhead, clearly depicts how ungracious and inconsiderate some commuters can be.

The middle-aged woman occupying the priority seat seems as if she couldn't care less about the frail, old man who is standing next to her and holding the handle, looking rather unsteady.

This dejected STOMPer says:

"Another old man standing."

This woman not only cut a bus queue in front of a pregnant woman in her third trimester, she also stole her seat after they boarded, says STOMPer Jon.

Here's what the upset STOMPer had to say of the incident:

"I had an extremely bad experience on Dec 03 at around 11 pm.

"I was on the way home with my pregnant wife from Century Square, attempting to board bus number 27 when the girl in the picture, together with her sister, cut the queue in front of me and my wife. My wife almost fell from what they did.

"On board the bus, the four priority seats were taken up by parents with babies and the elderly therefore when there appeared to be a seat available, I wanted to help my wife towards the seat. Instead, the elder of the inconsiderate sisters rushed for it and sat down.

"I was totally furious at them and stared at the girl, who returned my stare with a triumphant look. My wife had to stand throughout the entire journey and she is already in the FINAL trimester of pregnancy. The girl in the picture still had the nerve to stare at my wife and her tummy throughout the journey towards Sengkang until I stepped up and confronted her in front of everyone in the bus.

"She totally ignored my existence even as I told her how inconsiderate she was and how my wife almost fell because of her rushing up the bus to get a seat.

"They alighted at the same bus stop as me and my wife, and as my wife approached her, she continued to walk off with her sister following behind. As my wife could not catch up with her, she asked her loudly from behind why she had such a bad attitude towards us. She just ignored my wife and continued walking. Her younger sister kept turning around and said they did not notice us and kept saying sorry.

"After a while the elder sister pulled her younger sister away and even dragged her away by her hair. My wife was so furious she mumbled expletives towards them and the elder sister said "wei hai zi ji yi dian de" and walked off with her sister.

"She even put her hands in the air and showed us her middle finger as she walked off with her sister trailing behind.

"This illustrates how badly some younger Singaporeans are raised even when our society has become more educated and wealthy."

What to do when resources are scarce? I notice humans can only be graceful when resources are abundant and everybody has enough then people can be graceous and generous.

STOMPer Tay was disgusted by an uncouth middle-aged woman who dangled her shoeless foot over a railing in an extremely unsightly manner, while waiting for a bus.

This STOMPer, who wonders why people behave in such uncivilised ways in public places, says:

"This picture was taken yesterday(4 Dec), around 7.16 pm at Bukit Panjang interchange.

"While waiting for the bus, I smelt something funny. Turning around, I realised that a no-brain aunty had left her foot hanging over the railing for people to sit on.

"Wonder what foreigners will think of us when they see this? Is Singapore a Third World country?"
