Woman kills abusive son with heavy stone

A woman in Madurai, south India, killed her 30-year-old son after years of suffering his drunken beatings, reported Tamil Nesan.
Construction labourer Pethammal, 50, smashed the head of her son, Pon Irulan, with a heavy stone after an argument on Monday, killing him instantly.
Pethammal, a widow, had been living alone with her son after her younger children married and moved out of the home.
That night, Pon Irulan, an electrician, had arrived home in a drunken state and beat Pethammal, following a quarrel with her. After he fell asleep, Pethammal took the stone and smashed his head.
Pethammal spent the night with her son's body at home before surrendering herself at the Tallakulam police station the next day.
It was reported that the son would beat his mother almost every day.
