Woman killed after being hit by bus in Sengkang

SINGAPORE: A woman died after she was hit by a SBS Transit bus in Sengkang.

The bus operator told Channel NewsAsia the driver was suspended with immediate effect.

The incident happened at about 11.20am at the junction of Sengkang East Way and Compassvale Road.

Eyewitnesses told Channel NewsAsia that the woman was run over by SBS Transit Bus service 159.

Police said the 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.

SBS Transit said it is very saddened by the incident and extends its deepest condolences to the family of the victim.

The bus operator said its immediate focus is to try and extend all possible assistance to them during this very difficult time.
