IPOH: Hotel staff members and passers-by apprehended a man who slashed a woman’s throat during a botched robbery at a hotel in Jalan Pasar, Teluk Intan, about 100km from here. Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Goh Kok Liang said the woman, in her 50s, was alone in her hotel room when a man knocked on her door at 7.50pm on Tuesday. When she opened the door, the man, in his 20s, stormed into the room, pointed a knife at her and told her to hand over her belongings.
“A struggle ensued and when the woman shouted for help, he slashed her throat and fled,” said ACP Goh. However, hotel workers and the public gave chase, apprehended him and handed him over to the police. The victim was sent to Teluk Intan Hospital, where she received 15 stitches. Her condition is reported to be stable.
